Which Microsoft Office version works with macOS Big Sur?

As Microsoft no longer supports macOS Big Sur for new Office installations, I suggest you contact Microsoft before you spend good money on any version of Office that may be blocked by Microsoft on that unsupported macOS version.

Currently, Microsoft supports the current Microsoft 365 (subscription) or Office 2021/2024 for Mac on macOS Ventura, Sonoma, or Sequoia. That will change in Fall 2025 with the dropping of Ventura.

Options for Big Sur:

• LibreOffice Suite (free) and supporting Documentation
• SoftMaker's Office 2024/NX (free trial, paid, or subscription) and supporting Documentation

For a 2013 MacBook running macOS Big Sur 11.7.10, you should purchase Office 2019 as it's the last version officially compatible with that macOS version, and older versions of Office will not run under Big Sur.
