It seems an old bug still exists...

Solution:

First, convert the mp3 (compressed audio) to an uncompressed format such as AIF or WAV with another software. I recommend using the free software audacity, but you can use any software that is capable of converting compressed audio into uncompressed formats.

Then you can import the uncompressed audio file into Logic.

Edit:

  1. Avoid using special characters in the name of the audio file such as ", . : ; / " and so on !
  2. The "volume" slider in the top bar of Logic's main menu is the Master Fader that should be always set to 0dB. Many people confuse this slider with a monitor slider, and it seems to me that you do too. This is different compared to GarageBand.
