Same Sample rates, but not synching MP3 and new vocal track. Please help

Logic Pro

Sequoia 15.3.2

UA x8p interface

New Project, imported MP3

Added a Vocal track, but it always plays back fast.

Both the MP3 and the project are 44.1

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 15.3

Logic Pro iPad track sync and panning issues First song using Logic Pro/iPad - long time GB/iPad user. Created song with MIDI and audio tracks in GB, then imported into Logic Pro/iPad - worked great. After adding more audio tracks, fx, and editing (over a few days), when I start playback from beginning sometimes the vocal (audio) stacked tracks are out of sync with rest (about 1 beat early). After restarting from beginning, it usually gets back in sync. Also, when exporting, sometimes the first export results in m4a file with same issue, and re-exporting usually works (vocal stack back in sync). In addition, the export seems to swap Left/right panning occasionally and re-exporting usually swaps it back to correct left/right pan. with Logic Pro/iPad being so new I’m not sure if I’m missing some setting, or if this is a bug… anyone else experience this?

I want to Thank EddieGrey for hanging tough with me.

I really hate to admit this, but my last project needed a recording delay and I simply left the slider there.

LogicPro>Settings>Audio>

Should have been 0.

It was a -4642.

It seems an old bug still exists...

Solution:

First, convert the mp3 (compressed audio) to an uncompressed format such as AIF or WAV with another software. I recommend using the free software audacity, but you can use any software that is capable of converting compressed audio into uncompressed formats.

Then you can import the uncompressed audio file into Logic.

Edit:

Avoid using special characters in the name of the audio file such as ", . : ; / " and so on !
The "volume" slider in the top bar of Logic's main menu is the Master Fader that should be always set to 0dB. Many people confuse this slider with a monitor slider, and it seems to me that you do too. This is different compared to GarageBand.

In Logic's preferences/audio there's a setting called "recording delay". Make sure it's set to the middle, zero samples.

Flex Time was never engaged, always off on all tracks.

Additionally;

Created new project, imported mp3, bounced to .wav

Created another new project, imported new .wav

Added another new vocal track, and playback again of new vocal track was too fast.

Got frustrated and deleted several attempts, but it's so basic and simple.

1 track via imported MP3, and then 1 track added with vocal take- and it plays back faster.

I've done it many times with no issue.

CoreAudio reset??

OK, went through the audacity steps. All set at 44.1

No change. Same thing, vocal take is too fast.

Yes, I did lower the volume quickly using the MF. (I don't normally do this) late night ear ache

Switch your sample rate to 48k and/or Turn off Flex Time on all Audio Tracks.

New project at 48, and Flex Time was not enabled.

Same issue, new vocal track plays faster than recorded. Really weird.
