Windows computer can't open document edited for a Mac computer

"Windows computer can't open document edited for a Mac computer: Somebody send me a word document; I edited it in my Mac and then I send it back to that person. This person can't open the document in his Windows computer. What happened there"

Change the Filetype to *.doc:

Which Windows Operating System do your have? Which MS Office version does this person have installed? Much older versions of MS Office cannot open XML formatted documents. So, save it as *.doc rather than *.docx

Did you use Pages or Word for Mac to edit? Check the file extension to see if it's '.doc/.docx' or '.pages'.

Who knows. You or your friend should probably post your question on a Windows product support forum, since it's his problem if he can't open a Microsoft Word document.
