How can I get step count from my dance workout on Apple Watch?

I am a line dancer. I use the dance workout on my Apple Watch to track calories. How do I get the step count during that workout as well?

This might be tricky. The watch mainly counts your steps according to the movement of the watch on your wrist.

Carrying a bag or pushing a shopping chart, for example, will get you less steps, whereas for some users, knitting increased their step count.
