I’m trying to allow internet-sharing so that my iPhone can connect to the internet by WiFi through my Mac laptop’s Ethernet connection. It’s worked before but this time there is no option to choose for channel.

I don’t see anything labeled “internet settings”. In Network settings, my Belkin USB-C LAN is topmost. When I go to General>Internet Sharing, it shows that same option at the top, “Share your connection from”.
ok, I hav been fiddling mourned on some of my Macs and learning some things.
on one, everything worked fine, and I could specify everything. It even chose the least-busy end of the spectrum (nearby Router is on channel 1, it chose 11 automatically). All worked as expected.
on another Mac, there are hacks around its aftermarket Wi-Fi. In this case, it won't let me specify the name or the new password.
So the suggestion is, that If you can't specify everything, it might be possible that your Wi-Fi interface is not working properly at this moment.
I found a solution. I downloaded a utility from Belkin and things are working as they are supposed to for now.
I've lost count of how often I have had mysterious issues trying to connect my iPhone to my Mac by Wi-Fi.

I did precisely what i said in the above post.
My Ethernet connector is a Belkin product.
I went to the Belkin website and searched for the product using the model number printed on it. I found a utility that apparently supports multiple Belkin products including the one i am using. I downloaded it. I installed it. At the time it seemed to resolve the issue.
Since then there have been multiple instances in which my iPhone could not connect to my Mac laptop by WiFi, including the lack of channel option. Problems connecting continue fairly regularly. Sometimes my laptop assigns a new random password without warning. Sometimes the laptop does not recognize my Belkin ethernet connection. Sometimes my iPhone can't find the WiFi connection. It's a constantly recurring issue and Apple Support has not been helpful at all.

I'm sorry, that doesn't help. I've gone through all of those steps as I understand them. There are no options for channel.
The box you are showing says it is going to use the default channel? is that not OK?
Again, previously when I set up internet sharing I could choose a channel. Now when I click, the field is blank, no options. Meanwhile my iPhone does not see the network and do cannot connect.
