Deleting files on MacBookpro 2017 ventura 13.7.4

Don't I need to also emty trash when done? So far nothing is in trash and I have deleted tons of photos and contacts.

Delete file external hard drive> Shows up in trash on Mac My questions is: When you delete something from external hard drive and it shows up in the Macs trash, is it actually in the Macs trash, I would have thought if I deleted something from a hard drive it is removed from that hard drive not added to another one? Confusing.

Secure Emptying the Trash Please, does anyone know how to delete sensitive files, photos, and videos on MacOS M1 so that NO expensive or whatever recovery app will ever be able to recover them anymore? I don't want to only delete them from the trash can; I want them off the hard drive or Mac. That is, without factory reset and/or wiping my Mac. Thanks for your help!

Do you have iCloud enabled? If so, then most likely you are deleting those items from the cloud....meaning they are being deleted from all of your connected devices that are using iCloud with that AppleID.
