Why won't my iPod shuffle 2nd gen charge properly?

Hey. I had an iPod Shuffle 2nd gen since like 2008. I found it in my cupboard and it synced to iTunes and i put songs in it. But, when I try to charge it, it just flashes orange thrice and stops. Even in power bricks (even though it flashed green for a while in a laptop). I decided to plug it into my car to listen from there, as my 2020 Subaru XV 2.0 i.p had a place in the touchscreen for iPods. But, even when I put it there, it does the same thing, except the flashing doesn't stop. I put it in the charging only compartment to see what happens, but same thing there. Best case scenario I can start charging it and use it, but realistically I just want it to power on and play songs on the car. What do I do?
