Why does Siri pause music on my iPhone instead of Mac?

If I am playing music on my Mac, and my iPhone is charging right next to it, Apple Music is not even open on it, if I say "Hey Siri, pause music." Instead of going to my Mac to pause the music it goes to my iPhone and Siri says "There is no music playing."

Music paused after siri announces a notification. Ever since I downloaded IOS 18, siri has been pausing my music whenever announcing a notification. As a college student who is constantly listening to music, this is quite frustrating.

Why is Siri no longer searching Apple Music? For over a week now when I ask Siri to play something it won’t search Apple Music and it will reply that couldn’t find it on my library. I tried restarting, removing and reinstalling the app, switching Siri off and on again but the issue persists. It started happening a few days after installing iOS 16.0.2 I am using an iPhone 12 Pro. I have no issues with my iPad which always searches Apple Music.
