Can always message me but limit messaging everyone else

Hello, how can I set up my child’s screen time so they have a messaging limit (1-2 hours per day) but can always text me or my wife…this seems like something that should be easily done but I can’t figure it out.

Allow child to text parent even after messages time limit is reached I want my child to have a time limit for messaging but also be able to message me even after they reach the app time limit? I've tried everything. How do I do this? I know how to let them text me after downtime, but not if they've reach the time limit for the messaging app. Also, when she sends me a request for more time for any app, I want her to be able to text me the reason she needs more time, but if she's reached her texting time limit, she can't text me. I know I can just put "always allow" for texting but then she spends hours all day texting her friends and I definitely don't want that.

Parental Controls: time limit texts, but open limit for Specific Contacts? I have my child's phone set for Downtime each evening with the ability for him to text specific contacts during downtime (in case he needs to get ahold of his mom or me). But I also want to limit the amount of time per day he has to text his friends, while still having the ability to text his mom or me without limit. Is there a way to accomplish both of these things? It seems that if I set an app limit for texting, there is no option for "texting is turned off, except for these people." Am I correct? Thanks in advance for your help!

Communication Limits Not Working On parental controls screen time, I have my daughter’s settings to be able to communicate with everyone during downtime. Yet, when her Apps time limit is reached, she cannot call or text anyone but me. I have messages also included in always allowed. I do not have the option to include calls in always allowed. But it seems the communication limits setting should allow calls and messages even when app time limit reaches with the setting of can communicate with everyone during downtime.
