Problems with Zoom and other video conferencing software
Hi All,
I have a 27" Retina 5K iMac 4.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 with 64 GB RAM running OS Ventura 13.7.5. For the 6 1/2+ years I've owned this wonderful machine I haven't had any problems, until this past year. Sometimes when I am hosting or in a Zoom meeting and sharing my screen, my video and audio will freeze. If I have other software running I try to close it, and sometimes I can't – I have to shut the computer down using the power button.
This morning I was in a meeting using WebEx on the web (Safari 18.3.1) – not sharing my screen – and the same thing happened. Thank goodness I have a brand new M4 MacBook Pro and was able to rejoin there with no problems.
I've been suspecting maybe the iMac's RAM is starting to fail, so after the meeting I ran Apple Diagnostics and the report was clean, no hardware problems detected. I also ran an EtreCheckPro scan yesterday and that didn't detect any problems either.
Ideas? Many thanks!
