Hi,

I don't have any experience with your A52Codec issue. Just guessing, but it appears that your old Sony video clips contain the A52 audio codec that is not compatible with iMovie. I would try clicking on "Done" and see if the audio plays. If not, then try exporting the project as an audio only file to your desktop. Audio Only is one of the options under Format/File Format in the export box. Choose the AAC option from the File Format options listed.

Now see if the audio will play on your desktop. If yes, then import the clip back into your iMovie file and see if it plays there. You can mute or detach the embedded audio from the original clip.

Another thing that you can try is to import your Sony clip into QuickTimePlayer and see if it plays there.

If nothing works, you may need to download the A52 codec. I have not done that myself but you could do an internet search about the A52 codec and perhaps gain some info there.
