Using prolevel audio level with iMovie

I am trying to use Prolevel audio levels with iMovie. Both Prolevel and iMovie are assigned to Blackhole 2 Ch, but the levels aren't registering.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.7

Video loses audio after importing in iMovie? The audio track is shown as a flat line, ie zone sound. Usually, if I trim it in QuickTime Player then the audio will import correctly, but for some MP4's QuickTime Player will not let me Trim/edit it? Is there a simpler way to solve this encoding problem?

imovie wont layer audio iMovie won't layer audio - when I add a second track it will only add it at the end of the previous track, not onto of it - so I can't have background music to speech for example
