How do I recover logic files from an unrecognized external HD after a Mac Studio M2 Max update?

I just ran the newest update on my Mac Studio M2 Max foolishly didn’t have another back up I had left my external hd plugged in and have every other update and now it’s not recognizing it and literally have a hundred logic files on there pretty much everything tried doing usb port reset and the mvrom i think it’s called with no sucess pretty sure the update killed my external HD!

is this to get people to only purchase Apple external or buy a new Mac with more memory wouldn’t suprise me really just like my printer updated now I can only use hp ink

I guess I’m just screwed should have had another back up
