How do I resolve 'internal error' when sending emails from iCloud to various domains?

All emails I sent to various domains between noon and 12:30 today were retrned tonight with the following message: Reporting-MTA: dns me . com

X-Postfix-Sender: rfc822; j*****@icloud.com

Final-Recipient: rfc822; **@***********************

Original-Recipient: k******@hotmail.com|rfc822;b****@aol.com********gmail.com

Action: failed

Status: 5.7.0

Diagnostic-Code: X-Postfix; internal error

It happend with all the emails, but I am only attaching the error message once. Was there a problem with icloud email today? It's annoying to not be able to send mail, and even more annoying to not find out that the email didn't go until hours later.

Based on the information provided here is an analysis:

MTA: dns me . com → The mail transfer agent (MTA) encountered an issue when trying to resolve a domain.

Status: 5.7.0 → This SMTP error typically means a policy-related rejection (e.g., authentication failures, spam filtering, or security settings).

Diagnostic-Code: X-Postfix; internal error → A generic internal failure in Postfix, likely due to DNS, policy, or configuration issues.

I would ignore the last issue as you don't have any control over this.

There are few things you need to check:

  1. Your computers internet connection is operating as expected.
  2. Check your computers disk space
  3. Check the addresses you entered are correct. Check that you enter multiple address correctly. I see a "|rfc822" in the Original-Recipient list which looks wrong. I'm suspecting a typo in at least one of those addresses.
  4. try sending to one address at a time and see if any of them bounce back.

Good luck
