How can I retrieve my backed up music on MacBook Pro?

1 - How do I get my backed up music from my old iPhones? It does not load into Apple Music. They won't load on new phones and only what I bought online will load.

2- How do I load an iPod shuffle 4th gen that is waterproofed for swimming, with music if there is no iTunes version that is compatible? I used apple support the other day for another purpose and asked about the iTunes. My music is backed up but Apple Music is blocking what I own already. There needs to be a work around so we are not locked out of music that we already purchased on CD. Thanks!

iOS device backups do not include media. I thought you were talking about some other form of backup such as Time Machine. If you still have songs that play on one of your devices see Recover your iTunes/Music library from your iPod or iOS device - Apple Community for steps to copy it into your library, from where it can then be synced to other devices.

The phones back up but they appear as a file. And not as music that I own and ported from a computer on iTunes

to the phones. I want the music in my library where it belongs and don't want to have to re-purchase what I already own. The music always split off into a separate file so I could drag and drop individual songs. I want to put them on a waterproof iPod shuffle to swim with.

But, I was told to upgrade to the next OS on a support call but that crippled my ability to get my music on my newer phones or even download iTunes.
