I have a video from an interview with constant side to side motion. The camera was on a slider going back and forth. Is there any way to track one of the people in the video and remove most or all of the side to side motion? I would like to either make the movement more subtle or remove it completely if possible. I am on Final Cut Pro 11.0.1.

CoreMelt has a plugin called "Lock & Load" that will do this pretty easily, if the movement isn't too extreme. If it is too extreme, nothing will fix it.
You can try using tracking with a little trick to try and achieve this.

I'd first do a test on a shorter segment to see if it behaves the way you expect.
