Using a M2 Mac mini running the latest OS. Audible audio files were playing fine out of Apple Books a month or so ago. Now, not one plays. Keeps asking for authorisation. Followed the on-screen instructions, but keep being directed back to my Mac after going through various hoops. Audible support has ran out of ideas. Hence the community. Look forward to hearing any suggestions.

I chatted with Audible technical support, but they had no idea about the problem or how to fix it.
Now having to use their Audible app instead—a bit of a palaver, as I try to keep the number of apps to a minimum on my Mac Mini and across all my other Apple devices.
Update. Spoken with an Audible agent. Turns out to be a recently discovered issue between Apple devices and the Audible site/files. Being investigated, but no idea when the matter will be resolved. Meantime, the suggestion from Audible is to download their app.
