Why does my Mac say I need to update macOS when it's already updated to Monterey 12.7.6

It sounds as though your version of Microsoft Office requires a more modern operating system (such as Ventura 13) to run properly, but your Mac can only support Monterey 12 at most.

Could you provide a screenshot so we can diagnose the issue more accurately?

My guess is that Microsoft is “expecting” a newer MacOS for their current Office products and is generating that message as part of their routine Office Update checks.

My own Mac is limited to MacOS 13, and I too expect to start receiving those types of messages in the not-too-distant future.

Microsoft only supports the three most recent versions of macOS; Sequoia, Sonoma, and Ventura. You would need a newer Mac.

What version of Office are you running? Did Office work at the previous OS version? I have Office 2019 on my 2019 iMac running 12.7.6 and still runs fine although no more updates are available.
