Unable to drag Gmail icon to my Dock on Mac
I want to put G mail icon on my Dock. Is there a way to do this? I tried dragging but it won't allow me to do this. Thanks

If you mean you created a webloc file by dragging the URL to the desktop, you have to drag and drop it to the right of the Dock separation line, if your Dock is at the bottom, or below the line if you have the Dock on the side.

Add your Gmail account to your Mail app and drag the Mail app into the Dock. That way you don't have to use a browser to access your mail.
What exactly are trying to drag to the Dock? There's no GMail app for Macs.
You can add your Gmail account to System Preferences > Internet Accounts then it will also show up in Mail.

Just curious, why not just bookmark GMail in your browser or set gmail.com as the browser startup page?
Or, if you're a multiple tabs person, just have Gmail in a permanently open tab so it's always there if you keep your browser open all the time (I do).

Actually you don't need to keep a browser open all the time. If you quit a browser with Tabs open, they should be open the next time you start it. Which is what I do.
Fair comment ... but as I spend most of my Mac-life online, I keep my browser open until nighttime sleep. (Oh and I do have it set to 'Open with last session')
I wanted to add G mail to the dock. I already have it as a shortcut on my desktop but wanted easier access. I was trying to add it using the web browser.
BTW, which version of macOS are you running?
Monterey
Okay well, what kind of shortcut are you referring to?
I want to put a g mail Icon in my dock for easy access to open my mail. Is this something that is doable or am I wasting my time trying to figure this out?

My G mail is a secondary account. My other e mail uses the mail icon on the dock. Is there way to still do what your suggesting?
I don’t know what a webloc file is. I just wanted the easiest access. I know I can keep the tab open but with so many tabs open the battery gets drained faster.
