Why am I getting access denied errors on macOS Sierra?

I have: Sierra 10.12.6 My Mac Processor: 1,6GHz Intel Core i5 from late 2015

I can not update Chrome as I can not seem to update Sierra (no options for update)

Being denied access to websites/ "Bad Gateway"/can not find the site you are looking for

Do I really have to buy a new IMAC?

You should be able to upgrade to macOS Monterey 12. You may have to upgrade to High Sierra first.

No. You can either use Chromium Legacy based on v124 but not maintained now

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/chromium-legacy-google-chrome-for-os-x-10-7-10-9.2283612/

or you can use Firefox Dynasty which is constantly updated to reflect the latest Firefox

https://github.com/i3roly/firefox-dynasty (download 'Latest' under Releases, lower right).

Those will keep you going for quite a while without having to buy a new computer or upgrading your OS
