Every time I try to import files into Final Cut Pro, I get a wheel of death and have to shut down the program. I've tried several things, including deleting my preference. I am working on an external drive with plenty of extra room. Any help would be appreciated!

How much free space is on the system drive? You need 15-20% minimum.
How is the external drive formatted? Needs to be MacOS Extended for spinning drives or APFS for SSDs.
