You can visit the Mac App Store and download/install Apple's free Pages. You will find Apple's Numbers application adjacent to the Pages entry.

Apple's Pages and Numbers are not clones of Microsoft Word or Excel and for the most part, can open these documents and translate them into Pages and Numbers documents. The original Microsoft documents are not available for editing or saving, and one will need to export Pages or Numbers to their Microsoft document counterparts via another translation process. You may encounter features in Microsoft documents that are not supported in Apple's applications.

If you will be sharing content produced in Pages or Numbers, and exported as respective Microsoft documents, with others who are using Microsoft Office, I would strongly advise that you use Microsoft Word and Excel yourself. Thus, you would be sharing native Microsoft document formats with others who expect it, and not the translated and exported content from Pages and Numbers.
