How can I play Blu-ray disk on my Mac mini?

Purchase an external DVD/BluRay drive ... I use a Pioneer optical drive like this one ... but there are many choices in the market.

You will also need a BluRay player app like Macgo Player Pro (available in the Mac App store) or VideoByte BluRay Player Pro ... or maybe even VLC but with VLC you may need to manually add the VLC keys database and AACS dynamic library which may not be so easy.

With a compatible third-party Blu-ray drive and free or paid third-party Blu-ray software. Apple has never supported Blu-ray playback in the operating system.

One option is the OWC Mercury Pro Blu-ray burner.

I happen to have a Pioneer BDR-X13U-S UltraHD Blu-ray burner and use the MacGo Blu-ray Player Pro (not UltraHD, read-only) with it on my M4 Mac Mini Pro (Sequoia 15.3.1). I do not burn DVDs, though the free Windows software that is part of that drive bundle from Pioneer does offer burning software — but I have not installed it.

Playing Blu-Ray in a Mac:

What I Use On my Sequoia 2018 MacBook Pro: External All-in-One Optical Writer - Apple Support. Even burning Blu-ray 100GB disks on this works like a charm. Got it at a local retailer.

I never got the VLC keys database and AACS hack to work here.
