I have a new iMac 4M and a New Logic pro. When I plug in the guitar via the M-audio 194/4 interface, it doesnt play. It was ok on the older iMac. Can't the cause be in the cable and usb c input? Does anyone have a similar experience

This might be a stretch but one of my clients had an issue where he changed his System Access/Priiviliges by mistake and that took out his audio capabilities. Have you tried playing with System Settings (specifically Screen and System audio recording)?
It could also be cables. Be sure to check it on another program such as Garageband or AudioMidi SetUp.
