Slow Download ICloud data as zip from privacy.apple.com > Data and Privacy > Download your data
REPRODUCTION STEPS:
I request my ICloud data in 10 gb blocks.
Hit request
Wait 5 days for email
Go to site and begin download of zip files
two of the parts:
iCloud_Drive_Part_1_of_6.zip 9GB
iCloud_Drive_Part_2_of_6.zip 9GB
download at a speed of 14kb/sec
which would take 10 days to download.
EXPECTED RESULT:
Should take no more than a couple hours
I know it is not my internet speed because I was able to download parts 3-6 at 17,152 KB/s in a matter of minutes to hours
These specific parts 1 and 2 are throttled down. Either because they are being served by different machines that have poor connectivity or are under huge amounts of load or you have some sort of denial of service protection software throttling back the speed.
Further more your servers do not support resume so I cannot use a utility like curl "curl -L -o -C" to resume the download after it has failed.
If I could voice my frustration that this looks like a vendor lock-in strategy: intentionally creating a huge amount of friction to get my stuff in bulk out of ICloud to keep me using ICloud because my files are marooned or I have to go to icloud and click on each file individually to down load them.
