Dark screen shows for front and back camera on iPhone 15 Pro Max

iphone 15 pro max used as a web cam on Zoom and facetime, since macOS 15.3 only a dark screen shows for the front and back cameras, also when plugged in with usb-c cable. Todays update of macOS 17.3.1 and similar update on iphone did nothing to correct this. Air drop works both ways, and the iPhone works as camera with third party software Elgato. Are other people having this bug issue? macOS 15.2 did not have this bug.

Based on your description, it appears you're experiencing a known issue where your iPhone 15 Pro Max is not functioning as a webcam on your Mac using the "Continuity Camera" feature, showing only a dark screen on Zoom and FaceTime despite being connected via USB-C, even after recent macOS and iOS updates; this issue seems to be specific to macOS 15.3 and above, as you mentioned it worked fine on macOS 15.2, and other functions like AirDrop work normally.

Okay sounds good, then we know one thing more that it is not an issue on an iPhone 12 Pro.

As I do a lot of international webinars, and the iPhone 15 pro max with its auto zoom and other video effects as one moves provides the equivalent of a camera man, going back to Elgato, without those function sucks.

Looks like I will have to spend a day moving my files and doing a total clean instal of 15.2, and wait until some updates, may be until MacOS 16.

Will also look into WebEx. Thanks.

For me, it works great with iPhone 12 Pro iOS 18.3.1 and Macbook Pro macOS Sequoia 15.3 on FaceTime 36 (36) and WebEx Version 45.1.0.31549. I do not use Zoom so I cannot comment.

With Continuity Camera, you can use your iPhone as your Mac webcam or microphone and take advantage of the powerful iPhone camera and additional video effects.
