Cannot select to speak.

I use this feature in most often in Books. My Pdf will be open, I select my text and as soon as I touch speak the app shuts down. It's not an app specific problem since it happens regardless when I try it, i get the same results.

"Speak selection" stops speaking midway through on iphone 13 speak screen will read a Word doc just fine and then all of a sudden, at random it'll stop and return to the top of the page and start re reading what it had just read. Really annoying - and its impossible to highlight the remaining unread words and ask it to speak those words so you are forced to listen to the entire paragraphs that you just completed listening to. I consider this UNUSABLE. A previous complaint was put in with the same problem on a MAC and the only response from Apple was - hm, lets see if its just your device - even after others had indicated they also had a problem with it. Apple hasn't solved this - and one person said they were relying on it for visual assistance. Seems we will have to look elsewhere as Apple really isn't interested in providing something that works here.

Text to Speech Crashes any app I use it on I have enabled the text to speech option in my accessibility settings under spoken content. It worked once, but now every time I attempt to activate it, the app i'm using will crash. This has happened on chrome, in photos, in notes, etc.

Speak Screen issues on 17.1.1 I have an iPhone 13 and have used the speak screen to read books in Kindle for some time. After updating to 17.1.1, the speak screen has some issues: -It voices ‘double left quotation mark’ sometimes near the end of a page and then skips the last few words and moves to the next page. This appears to happen when the page ends in the middle of a quote, but not always. -Sometimes it skips the last several lines on a page without being in the middle of a quote and turns to the next page. I can’t see any consistent reason for this. It doesn’t voice anything before it skips ahead in this instance -Sometimes the speak screen just stops for no apparent reason. Anyone else??

Have you tried restarting your iPhone? If so and that hasn't helped, restoring it would probably be the next thing to try, assuming that you've already installed any available updates.
