I was able to power off my iphone and when I came back online the problem with not seeing my comments while typing on Facebook was resolved.

Sounds like just another bug that Meta needs to resolve with a Facebook update. They have already had 10 updates in the last month and it seems they are unable to fix one problem without creating 2 more. It is clear that very little testing is done on their own before releasing an update and rely on their users to be the bug testers.
