Purchased mp3 files imported into Music do not play

Pls do the following:

Close Music.

Use Finder to locate one of the problem MP3 files.

Right-click the file and choose Open With > Music.

What happens?

I can get Music to play, what seems to be completely impossible is to get it to play only one item and then stop - even with Shuffle and Repeat both supposedly switched off

Good! Evidently the MP3s are OK. Add them to your Music library by any of the recommended methods, such as dragging to the Automatically Add folder, and you should be good to go.

It's even worse. You CAN'T PLAY MP3s THAT YOU CREATE on the same machine with GarageBand in QuickTime.

Sequoia is so locked-down you can't play your own files. Pretty embarrassingly poor UX.
