Why do some email links successfully open their affilliated apps but others default to browser?

I know variations of this question have been asked over time, but I will use the Pinterest app as an example

for point of failure, and it's all fine and good to cite a solution attempt from YouTube, but often I see menu options change over time (even AI has been throwing some dumb attempts at solutions via blanket statements). In short, does this come down to poor parameter-passing by the apps' developers?

For example, I click on an email from Pinterest. At some interim stage of the puzzle it asks me if I'd like to open the content IN Pinterest. WHY YES, WHAT A FINE IDEA! Instead, Safari opens and I'm presented with the option to log in. No thanks, I'll revert to my laptop and browser to ease the hassle.

On the other hand, there are apps that work flawlessly in their transition from links to app usage.

Maybe I'm being too verbose, but hopefully this outlines the issue.

Best Regards.
