How to change default storage location on Music App

Hi !

Just bought an Apple Mac mini ( Sequoia 15.2) to save all my music on. I want to rip all of my CDs to an external drive and use that as the default for the the Music App. All the web pages claim that there is a settings menu option somewhere on the app, but the app doesn't seem to have any control any where. Also , I don't see anything about Music settings in System Settings app.

See also Use multiple libraries in Music on Mac - Apple Support. A better approach if you are starting out may be to option-start-Music and create a new library in the root of your external drive. E.g. at <Volume>/Music. That way if you ever try to launch Music when the drive isn't ready it will let you know that it cannot read the library. Otherwise what happens is that the media folder preference is reset to the default path (~/Music/Music/Media) without warning and you may subsequently have content spread across two drives. Having everything in one place makes backing up and migrating easier in the future.
