Mac mini macOS Sequoia keeps switching TV input when waking from screen saver

Mac mini connected to Apple Studio Display as primary monitor via Thunderbolt port, and via HDMI port to Sony Bravia 4K UR2 as secondary monitor. In settings -> Displays -> When connected to TV is set to Ask What to Show. When the screen saver limit hits and the Studio Display goes dark and I have to sign in again, once I touch the fingerprint sensor on keyboard, the TV will switch the input to the Mac mini with the "Choose to Mirror from the menu" prompt showing on the TV when I am watching something else on a different input, or will cause the TV to power on if it is turned off. This behavior is problematic, and IMHO rather annoying. I would like it to ONLY do this when the Mac mini is powered on, or restarted. I also have a blu-ray player that is connected to the TV, and that will cause the TV to switch the input to it, but only when it is powered on, or restarted. That is how I'd like the Mac mini to behave. How can I do this? Thank you.

Hello den.thed,

Thank you so much for your response. I should clarify. When I say screen saver, I really mean Lock Screen settings. The Lock Screen settings can be seen below. "Auto search for input" is a setting I've seen on a multi-input monitor I have, but not on the Sony TV. I have found out what is going on though in my case. I view the TV as a special case secondary monitor that I use in conjunction with the Mac mini. I literally use it as a TV - I play videos on it from the Mac. The Mac apparently has no built-in function to treat it any differently than just a secondary monitor with no easy ability to have it disabled until I want it enabled (not that I can see anyway). Now as for the TV I have found out what is behind all this behavior. It is the Bravia Sync feature. This allows the TV to send commands to supported HDMI attached devices and receive commands from supported HDMI devices. If I turn that feature off the behavior stops entirely. Unfortunately for all attached devices, and certain behaviors that I want to keep. My particular TV does not have the ability to turn off Bravia Sync by device - it is all or nothing. So if I turn off Bravia Sync I don't get the unwanted behavior caused by the Mac mini, but I lose the wanted behavior from the Blu-ray player (powering that on causes the TV to power on, turning on the player turns on the TV and switches it to the Blu-ray input, and powering off the TV powers off the Blu-ray player ).

You're welcome.

I wasn't positive, but thought that it had something to do with a TV setting or feature.

To be honest, I'm not sure if there is a way to get everything that you desire.

Sadly you may have to choose between the best of two setups.

-----------

Not sure if it will help, but you can disable "Require password after screensaver begins or display is turned off"

To do that, open the iPhone Mirroring App on your Mac mini and change the setting to "Ask every time"

Then go back and reset "Require password after screen saver begins or display is turned off" to Never.
