Running headers and page numbers in Pages for book template

The first 30 pages of manuscript layout is basically done. Now wherever a page number is added, it adds the same number to every page. Also it adds page number to the upper right corner of a left page instead of the upper left corner where I want it.

Also some blue marks have appeared in a few places. They look like a lollipop on a long stick. I don't know what they do. They won't delete.

Very frustrating. Suggestions?
