Iphone 14 battery capacity dropping fast

Hello, I got a new iphone 14 for christmas, and I have always taken care to charge it in the best way in order to preserve the battery maximum capacity as much as possible. A week ago (it was around 1 month later I got the phone) the capacity dropped to 99%, and I thoughy it was normal, but actually after another week (today) it dropped again to 98%. I don't know what to do, can somebody help me please?

You are apparently not aware that Apple always rounds down the percentage to a whole number.

So, 98.9% will display as 98%. Your battery might have been at 99% and dropped only one-tenth to 98.9%, but it will look like the battery dropped from 99% to 98% when it only dropped .1%.

You will drive yourself crazy if you are checking the battery all the time.

In the very unlikely event that your battery drops to 80% in the first year......you get a new battery free.

Your iPhone battery health is expected to drop about 1% for every month. The decline isn’t always linear meaning you can notice a bit more or less percent drop per month too.

After about 2 months of your iPhone, you indeed should be at 98% battery health. There are also many other factors that go into your battery health decline such as usage and conditions, and varies by person.

All rechargeable lithium batteries chemically degrade over time. Eventually you will have to replace the battery.

Ok, actually didn't know about how apple rounds the pecentage. Thanks for letting me know. I should probably let me live a life in peace and stop checking all the time the indicator. And also I didn't know about the free battery.

Great idea. Don’t keep worrying about the battery health or it will drive you insane. Just enjoy your new iPhone!

Batteries, like people are individuals. No two people age exactly the same and batteries don’t age the same either. The exact usage, chemical makeup, storage conditions, exposure to heat and cold and about a dozen other factors mean that every battery ages differently. Battery aging is not a linear (straight line) and degrades at different rates as the chemicals in the battery age and other factors mentioned above. The graph below shows the 4 batteries that were recharged differently and look how differently the batteries capacity changed with age. There is nothing linear in the aging process.

Apple expects your battery health to be at 80% after 24 months. If your battery health misses that expectation, contact Apple Support.
