Adding Bluetooth scale to Mac mini Etekcity Luminary

I am trying to add a bluetooth scale that is designed to work with a phone app to automatically enter weights into a food program. That works well on the iPhone. But scale is not found when trying to discover on Mac mini. Maybe they have locked it out so you can only use with their app. I am trying to find a different inexpensive bluetooth scale that will work with my Mac mini if I can not make this one discoverable. Any help greatly appreciated.
