Hello emmanuella257, The iPhone 13 is not a new iPhone. They came out about 4 to 5 years ago 2020. What does your Battery Health say? In settings > Battery > Battery Health & Charging > Is the Maximum Capacity below 80% ? If yes you may want to think about a battery replacement. Does your iPhone have original battery or has it been replaced?

Most likely because a new phone has a lot of housekeeping to do initially. If you moved content from another iOS device it needs to download all 3rd party apps, update app databases, build a search database and other initial setup functions. Leave the phone plugged in as often as practical and connected to Wi-Fi until it finishes.

Hi Lawrence, Maybe user bought refurbished model. If that is case Apple may have sold it with new battery. User didn’t say ‘Updating continuing in background” , but you’re right that may very well be the case.

It can still be a new iPhone because it was only discontinued last September.
