How do I restart a Mac Mini M4 that is frozen?

Following online directions to perform a clean install of Mac OS Sequoia, I used disk utility to erase the Macintosh HD on my Mac Mini M4 (2024).

After this action, I could not boot the computer entirely, as it freezes when the Options screen displays. Once the Options screen displays, a spinner rotates clockwise just above the Shut Down and Restart icons. Neither the Bluetooth keyboard nor the magic mouse connects. The computer is frozen.

I have tried numerous ways to restart, including disconnecting the power cord, pressing and holding the power switch, and reinstalling it; double-pressing the power switch to cause the orange light to flash on the front panel; and various combinations of control, option, and command + R. All to no avail.

I may have powered off the computer during the Mackintosh HD erase process since it appeared complete, and the computer shut down. However, I am not 100% clear on this. In any case, the computer will not restart, and I hope one of the Apple Geniuses knows how to correct this problem without sending the machine back to Apple. This would be difficult, time-consuming, and expensive for me, as I am located in the Cayman Islands.

Thanks for your attention and any help you can provide.

If you disconnected the power cord, it should have immediately turned off. Was that not the case?

Or do you mean, it did, but it just restarted to the same place and locked up again.

You may need to have it start in recovery. Press and hold power button (located on the underside of the Mac mini) until it boots up into Recovery.
