Ereadwiz FB payments scam via ApplePay

Beware of Ereadwiz offering tips on Facebook, you follow a link then suddenly a payment of a £0.01 has been taken via Apple Pay and you are unknowingly subscribed to ongoing payments. Is there a way to stop these scammers using innocent clicks to take payments?

You might have signed up for a subscription, but that has nothing to do with Apple Pay. Subscriptions through Facebook do not support Apple Pay. If you did an in app purchase, that isn’t Apple Pay either. Apple Pay works one way, you approve with biometrics (Face ID or Fingerprint ID or passcode) and that’s it.

It sounds like you agreed to a subscription and the initial 1¢ charge was to verify your payment method on you added to Facebook or it was an in app purchase and was verified to your Apple Account (not Apple Pay).
