How to loop a voice memo in GarageBand on iPhone 16 Pro

I’m trying to loop a voice memo on my iPhone 16 Pro. Apparently there is no native way to do this, but a suggestion in this forum is to save the file then transfer it to GarageBand. I can save the file, but GarageBand won’t open it (file is greyed out). How can I open it in GB in order to loop it— or is there an alternative way to do this?
