Unlocking a Walmart-bought iPhone

Walmart sells carrier phones, but they also sell their cheap phones, Straight Talk. Those are carrier locked, and I don't know if they will unlock those. I also believe they want you to be a customer of Straight Talk for a period of time if the do unlock. What carrier did you ask for when your purchased the phone? If you asked for a specific carrier, that is who the phone is locked to.

Apple did not lock the phone. Apple cannot unlock the phone.

You will need to contact Walmart for assistance.

Here is what likely happened........A previous customer purchased the phone from Walmart and set up service with a carrier who locked the phone to the carrier's service.

The customer then returned the phone for a refund or exchange. Walmart then sold the phone to you.....which was locked to the carrier that the previous customer was using.......and now you have a used and locked phone.

Even if you know which carrier locked the phone, the carrier will not unlock the phone for you because you were not the customer that set up service for the phone.

Your best bet is to return the phone to Walmart for a refund. You don't want that phone.
