black screen on QuickTime

Slowly when I open some file.avi with QuickTime, more and more often the screen is black but I hear the sound. Some open, some remain black. The file icon shows there is video. When opening with other app (e.g. 5KPlayer), the video is OK. Opening in other laptop, OK. When I transfer to iMovie, all OK. What is going on? Restarted laptop, all same.

Same for me. I've been doing the exact same exporting of videos from my 360 cam and then importing to QuickTime to make one final video. Same procedure I've done for the last year and all of a sudden as of a few days ago every QT video I export will contain some portion of it that has black screen but with audio. And the individual files I'm using to import into QT all play fine. Something had to have changed recently cause the process for me has been exactly the same.

Meanwhile I've switched to using Adobe Premiere to put together my final video and it works fine. What's up with QT?
