iPad stopped backing up automatically to iCloud

I have been getting notifications that my 8th gen iPad (running iOS 18.1.1) hasn’t backed up to iCloud. It had been doing so automatically every day or two up to now so I don’t know what changed. Space doesn’t seem to be the issue. The device has plenty of opportunity to back up plugged in, locked, on Wi-Fi. How can I fix this? Thank you!

If an automatic iCloud backup fails, you may need to manually trigger a backup from device settings:

Settings > [Your Name / AppleID] > iCloud > iCloud Backup > Back Up Now

After the backup successfully completes, the device should continue to perform automatic backup to iCloud.

At the time of writing, be aware that iPadOS 18.2.1 is current. It is strongly recommended that you update to the current version.
