Focus mode doesn’t silence notifications

I’ve been experiencing this issue across all my devices for the last few months.

I tried to create a “mindfulness” focus that silences notifications when I open my meditation app. The focus will activate normally (either manually or when I launch the app) and I have the focus set to allow no notifications.

But then I still get all my normal notifications. Badges, dings, buzzes and announcements.

I have deleted and rebuilt the focus following Apple’s directions but there must be something I don’t understand.

I just want… no notifications when I open my meditation app. That must be easy, right?
