Storage not freeing up

I have deleted about 5 apps and at least 1,600 photos and videos but my storage hasn’t changed at all and still says I have 63.83 out of 64 GB used with most of it being apps and photos. I don’t understand how I can delete so much and still have no more storage freed up? I have the IPhone 11

Re: Storage not freeing up

Depending on your Settings, deleted items may remain in "Recently Deleted" folder for up to 30 days., still taking up space there.

You have the option to permanently delete these files ... however it is wise to back them up safely somewhere first (eg: to a computer or external zip or hard-drive).

Important: If you have copies synced in iCloud those files in sync will be deleted too.

There is no way to retrieve a permanently deleted file if it is wanted later.

I have backed them up elsewhere and I already permanently deleted everything in my recently deleted folder before posting. It still said the same amount of storage was taken up. I then powered off and back on my phone and nothing had changed except I went to the recently deleted folder and about 100 of my photos were back in there. I permanently deleted them again and repeated the process and no change other than a few MB being freed up
