Open files from Safari download folder

After having updated my Mac mini M2 from Ventura to 14.7.2, Safari 18.2. will not open files from its download folder within Safari.

I am getting a error message that this pdf/zip/other file can not be opened by Safari, as there is no program available to open this file. In Finder though, the files can be opened normally.

Anyone having a idea what is going on here?

A file download using Safari will, normally, download the file to the Downloads Folder adjacent to the Trash ( Bin ) in the Dock

Or the Downloads folder appearing in the Sidebar of Finder

If we circle back to Safari and the icon for downloaded files

Yes, in my setup Sequoia 15.1 with Safari Version 18.2 (20620.1.16.11.8)

If I attempt to Click to Open the " Activity.ofx " file

Nothing will happen - full stop

The only option available is to Clear

Omitted to mention

Yes, I do have an Application installed that can Open and Use the " Activity.ofx "

Open files from Safari download folder
