In most cases all transactions in the App Store are final. Some apps will offer a Free Trial to see if the service will work for you and there is no charge if cancelling at least 24 hours before the trial period ends, but if that app does not offer the free trial, you cannot create your own by trying the service out and requesting a refund. In some cases, Apple may offer a compassionate refund, but it should never be expected.

I am not sure how that could have happened since after choosing an app, you have to double click the side button with the amount showing on the screen, followed by verification with FaceID/TouchID or Passcode. That is how the charges are authorized and have not seen any case where a user was charged simply by searching apps in the App Store.
