I can't update my username in apple discussions to match my apple id, but I did see that somebody else had a similar issue and they requested the apple moderators to do it on their behalf and they did. So moderator, can you change my username from yebbi to plastikfan, thank you.
(Seems a bit nuts to have to do this in an open forum, we should be able to do this ourselves under account settings)
In the past changing the username was possible, but due to some users simply spamming threads and changing their username to continue spamming, it became problematic. Since changing the username is something that usually never happens or may be needed once for a reason such as yours, it is now handled by the moderators.
Also, consider not using your Apple ID as your username. One of the benefits of this site is that personal information is not allowed and emailing other users is not possible. Depending on your Apple ID, emailing may be possible just by adding @iCloud.com to your chosen username if it is the Apple ID.
