Brightness adjustment is not available in Display settings - workaround

I have a m2 mac mini with a Dell monitor and I have not been able to adjust my display brightness (I have migraines). The answer I found was connecting my monitor through usb c! HDMI won't let you make adjustments! Now everything works!

Studio display brightness can't be adjusted from control center Hello, I use my Studio Display with a MacBook Pro 13-inch, 2020 (Intel i5), macOS Ventura 13.0.1. When I try to adjust the display brightness manually, sometimes it is possible to do so from the control center, but sometimes the brightness control is grayed out and disabled. The display does respond to brightness adjustments, but only from the "Displays" menu on System Settings. Does anyone know a fix for that?

Brightness of external display changes on its own even though "automatically adjust brightness" is off I have a Macbook pro running Ventura and an LG UltraFine external display. I routinely calibrate the LG display using Colorite. Before calibration I check the display brightness and it is always set to the max. I need to manually adjust it back to the correct setting before doing the calibration. Next time I do to calibrate.. samething! Sometime since the last calibration the brightness has been set to maximum, which means at some point calibration became meaning less. "Automatically Adjust Brightness"is off, yet this is still happening. How can I prevent the brightness from changing on it's own?

That sounds right. HDMI carries no monitor control signal, afaik, so display brightness would have to be made via the monitor's in-built control menu. However, USB can and does carry monitor and system control data, including volume change and brightness dimming.
