I've updated Logic and something has changed with my input monitoring

Hey guys, I've updated to the latest Logic and something has changed with my input monitoring.

I have "software monitoring" enabled

I have "auto-input monitoring" enabled

I have the "I" on the track enabled

when the track is highlighted, I can hear the mic input, and if I press record, I can hear the recording, but if I play it back, it's as if the track is muted... UNLESS I either A) highlight another track or B) turn off the "I"

I used to could listen to playback right after I record, what is going on?
