Making Safari default browser instead of Google

Try going to Settings>Safari>Search Engine. I believe that is the path on an iPhone 7.

When I search for information it does it in google, not safari

That is normal and expected.

Google is a search engine.

Safari is a web browser.

When you search for stuff, depending what your settings are, you go to the search engine webpage to view your results.

In your case, google.

You are using Safari to view the website.
